ABOUT NANCY CARR

THE INSTRUCTOR

THE PERFORMER

Nancy is a soprano who has been singing, performing, and teaching professionally for the past 20+ years.  Nancy has been on the faculty at Stephens College, where she taught Acting I, Acting II, Voice and Speech as well as Private Voice Lessons. She was employed by the University of Virginia to teach Musical Theatre History, Theatre History and Acting with Semester at Sea. She sailed around the world with Desmund Tutu and over 600 college students. She has taught Acting I at Grossmont College and Musical Theatre Performance at MiraCosta College Actors Academy. Nancy served as the Director of Musical Theatre at Youth Performing Arts School (YPAS) in Washington, DC for two years, serving over 1,000 students in the DC metropolitan area.  Her students have appeared on Broadway, national tours in numerous regional theaters and have received accolades from numerous performing arts organizations.

Nancy has appeared in the national tours of Phantom and The Buddy Holly Story, as well as the Washington, DC premiere of Summer of '42 (Dorothy).  She has also performed in numerous regional productions throughout the United States. Some favorite credits include: Mamma Mia (Rosie), The Addams Family (Alice), Children of Eden (Eve/Mama Noah), Crimes of the Heart (Babe), The Last Night of Ballyhoo (Sunny), South Pacific (Nellie), I Love You, You're Perfect Now Change and City of Angels (Bobbi/Gabby).  

In San Diego, she has been seen as Auntie Who in the 2011, '12 and '13 productions and Grandma Who in the 2014, '15 and '16 productions of How the Grinch Stole Christmas and as Lady Montague in The Last Goodbye both at The Old Globe Theater. She starred in Respect: A Musical Journey of Women at both the Lyceum Theatre and the Herberger Theater in Phoenix, AZ. She has performed  in  The Music Man and The Servant of Two Masters at Lamb's Players Theatre and as Rona Peretti in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with Intrepid Theatre Company, Mamma Mia as Rosie and The Addams Family as Alice-both at the Welk Resort Theatre, along with numerous other SD credits.
